Marguerite Of Angoulême - Queen Of Navarre: Marguerite de Navarre was born as Marguerite d'Angoulême on 11 April 1492 in Angoulême and died on 21 December 1549 in Odos-en-Bigorre. She was the sister of François I of France. Marguerite became the Duchess of Alençon by her first marriage in 1509, she was made Duchess of Berry in 1517 by François I, and became Queen of Navarre by her second marriage in 1527. In 1528, she gave birth to Jeanne d'Albret, Queen of Navarre in 1555 and mother of Henri de Bourbon, future Henri IV, King of France and Navarre.
Marguerite played a major role in the first part of 16th century politics and showed a certain interest in new ideas, encouraging artists both at the French Court and in Nerac.
