Richard Mulcahy was a veteran of the Easter Rising, War of Independence and Civil War. As commander-in-chief succeeding Michael Collins, he was one of those who ordered the execution of 77 anti-Treaty prisoners during the Irish Civil War. The actions of 1922 and 1923 would come back to haunt Mulcahy 25 years later when he sought to become Taoiseach of the first inter-party government in the history of the Irish State. UCD archives has now digitised 95,000 documents from his archives. This interview features a conversation with the head of UCD archives Kate Manning.
