Hellraiser: The Clive Barker Era

It all starts in the mid 1980s. Clive Barker— a well renown British Author of horror novels— was working on his next horror thriller: The Hellbound Heart. His works mostly have consisted of books and short stories, with the occasional movie scripts that would generate Hollywood shlock that he wasn't super proud to be associated with. "If only there were an adaptation of my works that people actually understood!" he thought to himself.

This was a man who was already celebrated in the industry by horror mega-giants like Stephan King. Whilst King's writings have had success on the movie scene, Barker was looking for his Hollywood debut. He was frustrated with how his other scripts have been bastardized, so he started drafting one on his own— one he would have control over, one where he got to call the shots, one that he would direct. And so, on September 18, 1987, the world would see the world of Clive Barker, the way he always wanted people to see it. The world would be introduced to some of the most iconic horror monsters of not just Clive's works, but also of all time. This is the story of Hellraiser— from the rising Clive Barker era, to the fall of the Direct to DVD era, to it's resurgence into it's cinematic era... This is Hellraiser and the Insanity of Horror.
