Meon Valley Trail Parkrun no23

Today, I returned to the Meon Valley Trail for their Parkrun event number 23. This was one of my first pain-free runs of 2025, and I finished with a time of 26:02 minutes, placing 128th overall.

I've been running well for the past few months, gradually getting faster and feeling stronger after 18 months of injuries that had taken a toll on my lungs and strength.

The day started with heavy showers as I left home, and I honestly thought I would be running along a seriously muddy trail, navigating big puddles. However, by the time I reached Wickham, the rain had stopped, and the sun began to shine. The weather turned out to be great, and the trail was nowhere near as bad as I had imagined.

I felt very comfortable today as I pushed my pace during the outward journey. Once we turned for home, I accelerated again, bringing my pace down to under 4:30 per kilometre and finishing with a final kilometre at 4:21 per kilometre.

I'm thrilled to have taken 3 minutes and 28 seconds off my first time and to have finished 11th overall out of 120 runners. It's also my fastest time of the year so far, and I'm really pleased with my progress.
