Hi, so I (40M) have a daughter, Jade, (17F) and I have had a somewhat strained relationship with her in the past few years. Jade’s mom, my ex-wife, passed away nine years ago. We had been high school sweethearts and had married right out of college, but after that, things got rough between us and we had already been divorced for two years when she passed away from a seizure in her sleep. At the time, she had been splitting her time and living with both of us for half the month, and unfortunately, when she passed away, Jade had been staying with her, I think something just snapped inside my daughter the day that it happened.
