We embark on an adventure-fueled journey through Nevada's desert as we explore the rugged terrain of the Old West on the Jumbo Grade and Pony Express Trails. Join us off-roading in a convoy of diverse vehicles, including the GX470, 80 Series Land Cruiser, 4th Gen 4Runner, Xterra, Suzuki Samurai, Jeep JK Rubicon Unlimited, and a Jeep YJ, experiencing the unexpected challenges of breaking down on the trail.
We started at the Jumbo Grade Trailhead just outside of Carson City, NV with a first night destination of Fallon, NV. We passed through the historic Old West mining town of Virginia City, NV and on to the Pony Express Trail. In the desert playa flats of the Lahontan Valley, in sight of the city lights of Fallon, we encountered navigation troubles, where the GX470 broke down on me.
The views were stunning, the adventure was full, and the challenges were many - it was a GREAT first day!!!
