Hi!
I’m back in the sewing room today. I’m making a rail fence quilt block. The block will measure 12.5” square and finish in the quilt at 12” square.
This is a strip-pieced block.
First I choose three coordinating fabrics. I use fat quarters here.
If using fat quarters, cut two 2.5” x 22” strips from each fabric. If using fabric cut from the bolt, cut one 2.5” x width of fabric strip from each fabric.
Sew three strips together to form the strip set. Then cut the strip sets into 6.5” squares. Finally, sew the four squares together to form the block.
This is a simple block, perfect for a beginner quilter. You can make an entire quilt from these blocks, or use them as accent blocks in a sampler quilt. They would also make a simple, quick table runner or wall hanging.
Fabric used: A Blooming Bunch by Maureen McCormick for Moda Fabrics.
