– GAME OVERVIEW –

Sunset Riders for the arcade – running on a Konami TMNT2 (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2)-based system board – is a side-scrolling run and gun. It was developed and published by Konami (now Konami Amusement – a company within the Konami Group). The game was released in Japan on July 9, 1991, and in North America in September 1991.

• Sunset Riders is set in the American Old West, where players take control of one of four bounty hunters – Steve, Billy Cool, Bob or Cormano Wild – to collect rewards for various outlaws.
◦ It features many western elements such as horseback gunfights, massive wagon explosions and the appearance of steam locomotives.

• In the early 1990s, console versions of Sunset Riders were ported to positive reviews on the Sega Genesis (GEN), its European counterpart the Sega Mega Drive (MD) and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
◦ The game was re-released for the Microsoft Xbox 360 (X360) in the Game Room service Game Pack 012 (2010), and in 2020 as part of Hamster's Arcade Archives (ACA) (アーケードアーカイブス) series on the Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Nintendo Switch (NSW).

• Sunset Riders has two spiritual successors for the arcade, Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa (1992) and Mystic Warriors (ミスティックウォリアーズ -怒りの忍者-, Mystic Warriors: Ikari no Ninja, lit. Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the Ninjas) (1993).
