Parda ( The Cut ) is a short film about Amayara, a young girl from the Bohra community who underwent the practice of khatna or female genital cutting at a young age. As an adult, she struggles to fully enjoy sex and feels guilty and ashamed. Her boyfriend Akshar encourages her to speak out against the oppressive practices of her community and to fight for her own pleasure and rights.
Amayara is torn between her loyalty to her community and her desire for a free and happy life. She talks to other women who have undergone the practice of khatna and realizes that she is not alone in her struggle. With the support of Akshar and her newfound community, Amayara decides to speak out publicly about her experience and becomes an advocate for women's rights and sexual emancipation within her community.
The film challenges the narrow and oppressive view of women's sexuality that is perpetuated by some religious and cultural traditions. It encourages women to speak out against these practices and to claim their right to their own bodies and pleasure. The film also celebrates the power of love and solidarity in overcoming social and cultural barriers.
