John Rowlands-Pritchard introduces the Royal School of Church Music's "Guide to Plainchant" - a major and authoritative guide on the performance of ancient plainsong. It includes a revision of Dr Mary Berry's much-loved "Plainchant for Everyone" and an extensive anthology of plainchant for use in worship, in concert or many other contexts.
In the video, John explains the origins of plainchant, and how it can be relevant in the twenty-first century. He works with a group of singers from the RSCM to demonstrate how easy it can be to pick up the basic techniques of singing plainchant using the new volume.
