In this video, we discuss a very important concept in Islamic Theology: Taghoot (طاغوت). Many people recite the Kalimah but do not fully understand the condition of rejecting Taghoot (Kufr bit Taghut).

In this video, you will learn:

⚖️ The relationship between Tawheed and rejecting Taghoot.
1. ❓ What is the literal & technical meaning of Taghoot? (Taghoot ka lugwi aur istilahi mayna)
Literal Meaning (Lugwi Mayna): The word Taghoot (طاغوت) comes from the Arabic root word "Tagha" (طغى), which means "to cross the limits" or "to overflow."

Example: When water overflows from a river and causes a flood, in Arabic, it is called Tughyan.

Simple Urdu: Kisi cheez ka apni hadd se barh jana (Crossing the boundary).

Technical Meaning (Istilahi Mayna): In Islamic terminology (Shariah), Taghoot is defined as: "Anything that is worshipped, obeyed, or followed besides Allah, & it accepts that worship."

A famous definition by Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim is:

"Taghoot is anything regarding which a servant exceeds his limits, whether it is someone worshipped (Ma'bud), someone followed (Matbu'), or someone obeyed (Muta')."

In short: Anyone or anything that tries to take the place of Allah (in worship, legislation, or obedience) is Taghoot.

🛑 2. What are the different types of Taghoot? (Taghoot ki iqsam)
While there are many taghoots, scholars have identified 5 Main Heads of Taghoot (Ru'us at-Taghut):

Shaitan (Iblis): The leader of all Taghoots who invites people to worship other than Allah.

Whoever is worshipped & is pleased with it: If someone is worshipped by people & they represent themselves as a deity or are happy with it (e.g., false gurus claiming divinity). Note: Prophets or Saints (Awliya) who are worshipped by people but never asked for it are NOT Taghoot; the people worshipping them are in error, but the pious souls are innocent.

Whoever calls people to the worship of themselves: Anyone inviting others to treat them like God.

Whoever claims Knowledge of the Unseen (Ilm-ul-Ghaib): Ghaib belongs only to Allah. Anyone (like a fortune teller, magician, or false claimant) who claims they have absolute knowledge of the unseen is a Taghoot.

Whoever judges by other than what Allah has revealed: A ruler or judge who abandons Allah's law intentionally, considering their own laws superior or equal to Allah's Shariah, is acting as a Taghoot.

The Mission of Every Prophet

"And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], 'Worship Allah & avoid Taghoot.'" (Surah An-Nahl: 36) Urdu: "Hum ne har ummat mein aik rasool bheja ke Allah ki ibadat karo aur Taghoot se bacho."

⚖️ 4. The relationship between Tawheed and rejecting Taghoot
This is the most critical point for your audience to understand.

1. Two Pillars of Kalimah (La ilaha illa Allah): The declaration of faith consists of two parts:

Negation (Nafi): "La ilaha" (There is no deity) = Rejecting Taghoot (Kufr bit-Taghut).

Affirmation (Isbaat): "Illa Allah" (Except Allah) = Belief in Allah (Iman billah).
