Mantoux test also known as the Tuberculin skin test (TST), is a widely used method to assess if someone has been infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. in this video we'll explore how the test works, what it indicates and what to expect during and after the test.
This is a classic example of a delayed-type hypersensitivity (type IV) reaction, in which T cells and other immune cells gather at the site over 24 to 72 hours, producing localized inflammation.
