VCU Fashion Design, Advanced Draping Course, Fall 2021. This video is a comprehensive draping demonstration of a shawl collar on a shirt or dress with tunnel sleeves (a.k.a. bat wings). It uses box pleats at front and back princess seams for a fitted waist. Lengthen hem during pattern making for any length of dress.
You will need two panels for this drape. The front is 24" x 36" (36" on straight grain). The back is 24" x 30" (30" on straight grain). You will want the front panel to have CF straight grain drawn in 6" from right side, with the horizontal bust line 17" down from top edge of panel. The back panel should have CB straight grain drawn in 1" or 2" from the left edge of panel, with the horizontal SBL (shoulder blade line) starting 6" down from the top edge of panel. Measure dress form to find placement of hip line in relation to your SBL.
