In this video you will see me testing the current Reximex Myth Lite to see where the benchmark power and shots per 200 BAR fill are. This is a .177 rifle. A .22, or .25 calibre rifle will give a better shot count in sub-12-foot pounds, as they are more efficient. 3 magazines of 14 pellets will average 10.5-foot pounds, while 4 magazines will deliver and average of 10.4-foot pounds. At 3 magazines this gave a 30 feet per second spread, and at 4 magazines this rose to 42 feet per second. After finding out the shot count and power results, I took the rifle apart and removed the Exhaust valve transfer port, ready for installing the HUMA Regulator.
In the second part of the video, I will remove the air from the cylinder, fit the regulator and set it to around 90 to 100 BAR. I will then fill the air and do the tests again, fine tuning the rifle to see what power and shot count I can achieve.
By opening up the transfer port, you can lower the air needed to get the same power, or higher with less air. It is then a fine balance between regulator, hammer spring and packing the exhaust valve spring if the power is still too high.
I have not seen anyone do this to the Myth Lite yet, so this will be a first. Hopefully it will improve the shot cycle of the rifle, making it the perfect little hunting rifle.
Warning! Don't buy the HUMA Regulator until you've seen the follow up video. The air cylinders should all be the same diameter, but we'll find out for sure when I fit the regulator. It fits my Pretensis and Regime with the help of some PTFE tape for a tighter fit.
Catch you all in the New Year.
All the best.
Mark.
