ABANDONED village? Hidden GEM with HISTORIC church

Step into the past with this immersive 4K virtual walk through Skortsite (Скорците), a semi-abandoned village in Bulgaria, rich with history and stunning Bulgarian National Revival architecture.

On this beautiful March day, I begin my walk on the road leading into the village, accompanied by birds singing. The temperature has finally climbed above 20°C / 68°F, making it the perfect time to explore. As I walk, I pass a mix of abandoned and well-preserved buildings, some of them overtaken by ivy and nature.

At the heart of the village, I reach an incredible crossroads: a modern but narrow asphalt road meets an ancient Roman road made from stones and covered in grass. Following the Roman road downhill, I discover more stunning old homes, whispering stories of the past.

The journey culminates at the historic village church, a protected building due to be restored with European Union funding. Stepping inside, I find an awe-inspiring interior, adorned with rare bright blue frescoes and intricate artwork. The fading beauty of the altar and ceilings makes this a truly special place with a unique atmosphere.
