Idli Vada Sambar is Seattle Desi TV’s first-ever short film—created less as a finished cinematic product and more as a learning journey.
This project was about building experience, strengthening our team, and laying the foundation for strong production values. It brought together storytellers, technicians, and creatives who shared a common goal: to learn by doing, collaborate deeply, and grow together as a production unit.
At its heart, Idli Vada Sambar is a simple, universal concept—
the way our tummy and heart are always drawn to the food we grew up eating, especially the dishes lovingly made by our mothers. No matter how far we travel or how much we evolve, those childhood flavors remain a powerful emotional anchor.
This film reflects that nostalgia—comfort food, memories of home, and the unspoken bond between food and love. It marks the first step in SDTV’s storytelling journey, where community, culture, and creativity come together.
