Experts Share Europe's Reaction to Marine Le Pen Verdict | Amanpour and Company

French politician Marine Le Pen has been convicted of embezzling more than four million euros in European Union funds. She potentially faces years behind bars in addition to a €100,000 fine and an immediate ban from running for public office. As such, the perennial presidential nominee will no longer be allowed to run in the 2027 election if she is unable to successfully appeal her verdict – something she has vowed to do. The conviction sent shockwaves through France, where Le Pen has run for the presidency in every election since 2012, with her support swelling in recent years. To unpack what this means, foreign policy expert Nathalie Tocci and veteran French reporter Thierry Arnaud join the show.
