Ingredients:
• 2.600 oz. Chamomile Infusion (86.7%)
• 0.465 oz. Chamomile Distillate (6.7%)
• 0.030 oz. DL Panthenol (Vitamin B5) (1%)
• 0.140 oz. Propanediol (4.7%)
• 0.030 oz. Optiphen Plus (1%)
Directions:
Making the Infusion: Bring 3 oz. of Deionized Water to a soft boil. Pour over a bag of Chamomile Tea and allow too steep for 5-10 minutes. After steeping, remove the tea bag, and pour the infusion through a coffee filter to ensure you remove any particles from the tea.
Heating Phase: While the infusion is still warm, carefully add in the Chamomile Distillate, Panthenol, and Propanediol. Using an immersion blender, blend the mixture at low speed for about 2 minutes. One the mixture is well blended, and cooled, add in your Optiphen Plus and continue to mix for another 30 seconds to 1 minute. If necessary, pour the mixture through a coffee filter one more time.
Packing Off: Use a funnel (optional) to pour your toner into your packaging of choice and enjoy! Remember to label and date your product.
Because this is a toner, it is important that the product has appropriate pH. The ideal pH for skin falls between 4.5 and 5.5, so make sure you measure the pH (you can use a simple pH strip) before use. The easiest way to lower pH is to use citric
acid, and if you need to increase the pH you can use baking soda. Want to know more about pH, you can read all about it here.
To Use: Shake well. Apply product directly to face and pat with your hands or apply to a cotton pad and gently apply to face. Allow the product to dry before applying serums or moisturizers. This product is also a great pick me up and works great as a rejuvenating face mist you can use throughout the day.
Substitutions & Customizations: You can use this base toner recipe to make all kinds of incredible combinations! Switch out the chamomile distillate for rose, or cucumber for example, or play with different infusion options. If you remove the Optiphen plus, you must ensure that you replace it with another broad-spectrum preservative. Be advised that our estimated shelf life was calculated for this recipe only and is no longer valid if substitutions or alterations are made.
