The tradition of Venetian glass mosaic is over 1,000 years old. For centuries, the Orsoni grand gold mosaic tiles have been manually produced by master craftsman. Once an automatic production system was put into place, Granite Transformations mosaic artists and fabricators were able to produce over 12,000 square meters of the mosaic gold tile for the Mecca Clock Tower. There were a few problems to overcome while creating the tiles for this clock tower (such as its height and harmful UV rays). Materials like ceramic were used because they are extremely resistant to UV rays. To make the bond between the two glass layers stronger, we had to invent a new platinum alloy. Mosaic artists used 98 million colored glass mosaic tiles to create the largest clock in the world! All made with Trend mosaic tiles.
