How to pump a hydrofoil. The key is to both push down and lift up/ un-weigh the foil to lift it up, moving the foil up and down through the water like a dolphin. A bigger wing and longer mast will make it easier to pump but it does take some practice and lots of leg strength and stamina.
Daniel Kaahanui demonstrates and talks about how to pump back out to catch another wave on a foil surfboard. Zane Saenz shows and explains how to get a SUP foil board up on a foil in flatwater and keeping it going using the paddle and hopping up and down to keep it on a foil. Flat water foil starts take a tremendous amount of effort and a good strength to weight ratio. Zane shows us how flat water foil starts are done.
