Webinar Signal Integrity - Improved signal integrity using impedance calculated circuit boards: Higher frequencies make it incredibly important to calculate the impedances exactly. In practice, this means taking into account the distance between the layers and the track and gap. Ideally, this is done at the beginning of the design process. A close cooperation between designer and circuit board manufacturer can prove to be more than helpful. The printed circuit board manufacturer has detailed information on material parameters and layer thicknesses and can use these values when calculating the optimal track widths.
It is also important to take into account all the other conditions, for example, a complex HDI assembly, to ensure reliability through production. For high-speed applications with transmission rates of more than 2.5 GHz, high frequency materials are required. This aspect is explained further in the webinar.
