1960s Nylint Ford Econoline "Barn Find" Stake Truck Restoration

Today, we have one of our toughest restorations for you. This is a Nylint Ford Econoline Stake Truck, from the Thoroughbred Farms set. When this set came out it included, a color-matched horse trailer and a little plastic horse to go inside the trailer. Those pieces are long gone, but maybe we will pick them up in a future video. This toy lived in a barn, down in Georgia, for many years before we picked it up off eBay. We like to think of it as our very own Barn Find. As you could see, the elements did not do this truck any justice. Everything is completely pitted, and an entire rear quarter panel rusted-off the truck. This was our first time dealing with rusted-off quarter panels, so we were excited to give it a go!
This Nylint model was based on a 1961-1967 Ford Econoline. Aside from the dimensions being pretty accurate, this model featured many genuine looking trim pieces and Ford branded components. It came as a van or a pickup, just like its real life counterpart. Feel free to sit back, relax, and join us as this old Econoline gets a one-off restoration.
