Arrival in Hanoi - Vietnam 4K Travel Channel

Upon our arrival in Hanoi, we were picked up at the airport. Via a wide well-developed highway we drive towards the city center.
The flat land of the delta is partial only 1 to 3 m above the sea-level. Therefore it is heavily endangered by the climate change. Already since the 11th century one built ponds here, which are are up to 40 m wide. The river bed lies partly above the surrounding country.
Here, 45% of the land is used agriculturally. In most parts one cultivates rice.
The style of the houses is very distinctive. On small plots you see three storey houses. Usually they have no windows on the side walls, so that the neighboring house can be directly attached. One seldom sees individual houses. Mostly the houses are arranged in little villages. The fields are at the edges of the villages, so the way from home to the fields is very short.
On the outskirts of Hanoi, we have observed how farmers brought their vegetables directly from the fields to nearby restaurants.
Via the modern Nhat Tan bridge we reach the southern bank of the Red River. The relatively broad road on a dike leads directly to the tourist center of Hanoi. We stay at the Paradise Hotel in Hang Bac street.
We allow ourselves an hour to watch the traffic. Here we noticed that it is completely unnecessary, that a family with 2 or 3 little children owns 2 cars. A scooter is also sufficient. In addition, our municipal authorities could save many traffic lights if one takes Hanoi as an example. Furthermore, in our country are too many vans and trucks on the road. A motor scooter would also be sufficient. We hope that German “over-regulators”, transportation experts and politician get gray hair at the sight of these pictures :-)
However, we still have seen potential for improvement in Hanoi, too. One could introduce horns for pedestrians.
Already on the first day we are amazed to see three Bentleys in Hanoi - and this in a communist country.

Bei unserer Ankunft in Hanoi wurden wir am Flughafen abgeholt. Über eine breite gut ausgebaute Autobahn fahren wir Richtung Stadtzentrum.
Das flache Land des Deltas liegt teilweise nur 1 bis 3 m oberhalb des Meeresspiegels. Deshalb ist es durch den Klimawandel schwer gefährdet. Doch bereits seit dem 11. Jahrhundert werden hier Teiche gebaut, die an ihrer Basis bis zu 40 m breit sind. Teilweise liegt das Flussbett oberhalb des umgebenden Landes.
45% der Landfläche werden hier landwirtschaftlich genutzt. Größtenteils wird Reis angebaut.
Die Bauweise der Häuser ist sehr markant. Auf kleinen Parzellen werden meist dreistöckige Häuser errichtet, die an den Seitenwänden keine Fenster haben, sodass das Nachbarhaus unmittelbar angebaut werden kann. Selten sieht man einzelne Häuser. Meistens sind sind sie in kleinen Dörfern angeordnet. Direkt an den Rändern der Dörfer beginnen die Felder, sodass die Wege von zu Hause auf die Felder sehr kurz ist.
Am Rande von Hanoi haben wir beobachtet, wie Bauern ihr Gemüse direkt von den Feldern in nahegelegene Restaurants brachten.
Über die moderne Nhat Tan Brücke erreichen wir das südliche Ufer des Roten Flusses. Die relativ breit angelegte Straße führt auf einer Deichkrone direkt in das touristische Zentrum von Hanoi. Wir wohnen im Paradise Hotel in der Hang Bac Straße
Wir gönnen uns erst einmal eine Stunde nur um den Verkehr zu beobachten. Dabei haben wir festgestellt, dass es völlig unnötig ist, dass bei uns eine Familie mit 2 oder 3 kleinen Kindern 2 Autos besitzt. Ein Motorroller genügt auch. Außerdem könnten sich die Stadtverwaltungen viele Ampeln sparen, wenn man Hanoi als Beispiel nimmt. Außerdem sind bei uns viel zu viele Kleintransporter und LKWs unterwegs. Auch hier genügt ein Motorroller. Wir hoffen, dass deutsche Überregulierer, Verkehrsexperten und – Politiker beim Anblick dieser Bilder graue Haare bekommen :-)
Wir haben aber auch in Hanoi noch Verbesserungspotential gesehen. Man könnte Hupen für Fußgänger einführen.
Erstaunlicher weise haben wir bereits am ersten Tag in Hanoi drei Bentleys gesehen – und das in einem kommunistischen Land.
