Double Increase in 1x1 rib: Symmetrical & reversible

This double increase that works best in 1x1 ribbing is symmetrical and reversible. The increase is worked slightly differently on a knit versus a purl stitch.
On a knit stitch: knit into the stitch but do not let the stitch fall off the needle, yarn over, knit into that stitch again, and let it fall off the needle.
On the next row or round, the center stitch will be worked as a knit stitch on the right side and purl stitch on the wrong side.
On a purl stitch: purl into the stitch but do not let the stitch fall off the needle, yarn over, purl into that stitch again, and let it fall off the needle.
On the next row or round, the center stitch will be worked as a purl stitch on the right side and knit stitch on the wrong side.
