1st time filming at Raynes Park on the South Western Main Line and also the junction for services via Epsom on the Mole Valley Line and also this is my 1st upload since I moved to my new house in Fremington, Devon.
It's a mixture of fast and stopping services and even including a surprise and unexpected appearance of a 10 car Class 458 doing a service from Shepperton.
Also to make note that on the day of filming due to a person hit by a train there was no service between Haslemere and Havant which meant all services via Guildford would be cut back to Haslemere or Portsmouth Harbour trains would be diverted via Basingstoke and Eastleigh.
Raynes Park is located in the borough of Merton first opened on October 30th 1871 on the London and South Western Railway (L & SWR) which was privatised to South West Trains in 1996 and since August 2017 now runs under South Western Railway.
The station layout is unusual with 4 platforms and 2 through lines for fast services. Platforms 2 and 3 are served by services to and from Shepperton and Hampton Court whilst Platforms 1 and 4 on a curved layout diverges onto the Mole Valley Line towards Motspur Park which is served by service to Guildford via Epsom, Chessington South and Dorking and also not forgetting loop services via Strawberry Hill and Richmond stop here as well.
Although certain stopping services to Woking and Guildford via Surbiton run non stop through Platforms 2 and 3 respectively.
The footbridge is the most known feature of the station which due to the staggered layout is build at an angle because the embankment in the direction of New Malden is quite steep and also the Mole Valley Line which the line towards Platform 1passes under the 4 tracks from the South West direction curving up to the Platform.
Sadly for the Class 455s and 456s which been around since the 1980s their days in service on South Western Railway are numbered and are due to be replaced within the next few years by Class 701 Aventras which are been built by Bombardier in Derby and turn would also replace the Class 458s and controversially the Class 707s with the latter only being introduced in 2016.
Although some plans for the stock remain unknown either being converted to bio mode or used elsewhere likely to the south have been mooted however no plans have been pursued.
Although the Class 450s and 444s will remain along with the return of the former Wessex Class 442s which were withdrawn from South West Trains in 2009 to run on Gatwick Express which due to the surge of traffic was a complete failure and was replaced by Class 387s.
The 442s when they eventually return will form services to Bournemouth via Basingstoke or most cases Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford or Basingstoke enabling to free up 444s and 450s to be used for other services on the SWML.
