In Ancient Egypt, a sarcophagus was the encasement used for the final resting place of an important person's, linen-wrapped, mummified body, the most famous being King Tut's. Typically carved in stone, these coffins were beautifully painted and carved to honor the deceased. Ancient Resource's upcoming March 8th auction offers a rare, late Dynastic period, sarcophagus, as well as a Byzantine shoe and hundreds of other authentic ancient artifacts.
