Bobby Hicks is the most influential fiddle player in the last 40+ years.
As a Blue Grass Boy Bobby recorded with Bill Monroe back around 1954 - 1958. In 1959 he left Nashville for a gig as a concert master for the popular Judy Lynn Show in Las Vegas where he remained for many years without keeping in touch with what was going on in the world of bluegrass.
In the mid to late 70's Bobby came back to NC and started playing with local bands based around the Greensboro/Asheboro/SilerCity area of NC.
His first solo album - The Texas Crap Shooter from 1977 - meant a reintroduction of Bobby Hicks to the Bluegrass industry. Following up with numerous bluegrass recordings as a studio musician his monumental work on five out of the six Bluegrass Album volumes on Rounder records beween 1981 and 1997 was a paradigm shift. His contributions on all levels of fiddle playing to the world has taken the art form to a higher level.
Nick Chandler and Eric Ellis are both powerful soloists who together with Bobby can rely on a robust rhythm section with Ed Rose and Gary Allen.
