We’ve been out in Warwickshire to remove tonnes of congealed fat out of our sewers – by hand.
Many people don’t think about it, but if you pour grease and oil down the kitchen sink after cooking it quickly solidifies in the sewers and causes these huge chunks of fat to block our pipes.
This can result in sewage flooding into homes and gardens – something that nobody wants to deal with.
As you can see from the video the hard work of our engineers has paid off and by the end this wet well is looking as good as new.
We offer all our customers a free gunk pot that they can use to collect fat, oil and grease when cooking. Once this has cooled down it can then be put in the bin and kept out of our sewers.
