Age of Chaucer which is the second phase of Middle English period is considered the significant age in the history of English literature. When French was the predominant language after Anglo Norman conquest it was Chaucer who took the initiative in writing in one of the Middle English dialects ie; East Midland dialect. In this video we introduce the Age of Chaucer which witnessed a turbulent period of war, social revolt, disease and so on. After effects of war and the Black death that led to the economic crisis and revolts in England is explained briefly. The timeline of the major incidents that occured during this period will help you to memorise this period as a whole. Moreover the rulers during the Age of Chaucer are also mentioned in this video.
