Hello everyone, and Happy Monday! This is from one of my favorite Van Halen albums, 5150. From way back in 1986, that's a pretty special year for me- it's the year I went to Parris Island to become a Marine- so this reminds me every time I hear it, of that special detour in life, when you take a huge leap of faith and follow your calling, whatever that might be. For me, It turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made, (learning drums was first) and in between deployments, I somehow formed a band- I even got to teach drums to a few Marines and their kids while I was stationed at Cherry Point- It really was the best of both worlds.
The sound of Alex's drums is always phenomenal, on this release especially- Eddie's guitar rips, tears, and glimmers.This entire album kicks some serious butt. I hope you enjoy my shadowing this amazing drum track- Luv, Kev.
Equipment: Stock Roland TD-27KV2 kit, TAMA Iron Cobra double bass pedals, and a Iron Cobra hi-hat. I record the videos using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB interface and I use JBL and ADAM AUDIO studio monitors. The headphones are Sony MDR 7506, and I use JBLs and Bowers and Wilkins as well. My sticks are PROMARK Rebound 5A Select Balance, I also use Sound Percussion 5A's, and of course, my beautiful custom 2B sticks made by my amazingly talented wife.
