Walking the Scilly Walk in Kinsale: Food, Pubs & Irish History

Explore the scenic Scilly Walk in Kinsale, Ireland. We follow the coast to great local food, historic pubs, and hidden gems in this beautiful harbor town.

If you love history, especially Irish history, put Kinsale on your Ireland travel itinerary. As a bonus, there's fantastic food, brews, and views to enjoy during your stay. A full day can be spent taking the Scilly Walk to Charles Fort for a guided tour. While you can explore the fort without a guide, we found that learning about the fort from one made our experience far richer than it would have otherwise been. This is true of every historical spot we visited during our stay in Ireland.

On the way there, we recommend stopping at Bulman's Bar for lunch. It's on the path. Then, on your way back, stop by the Spaniard for a pint and chat about all you learned. From what we gleaned from locals, these 3 stops on the Scilly Walk (Bulman's Bar, Charles Fort, and the Spaniard) are a must (and perhaps a tradition?). Regardless, it's a fabulous way to spend the day!
