We blind taste tested five Easter eggs – here are our favourites

With Easter 2025 just days away, households around the country are preparing for the annual visit of the Easter Bunny and the arrival of plenty of chocolate eggs along with him.

Shoppers are spoiled for choice when it comes to the seasonal treat, with old favourites like Cadbury and Nestlé to supermarket own brands and more luxury options.

A team of three Irish Independent journalists – Amy Blaney, Saoirse Hanley and Darragh Nolan – were called up for the vital task of putting five different Easter eggs to the test and ranked our favourites in order from best to worst. The kicker was we did not know which we were eating beforehand.

It turned out to be a new offering from Nestle for this year, the Kit Kat Double Chocolate 'Incredible Egg'. The filling was pieces of biscuit, while the shell of the egg was brownie flavoured milk chocolate. Between the addition of a crunchy filling and an extra bit of flavour in the chocolate itself, it was the pick of the bunch.
