Vision Impairment Training - The Sighted Guide Technique Part Two

2 million people in the UK are living with sight loss.

Sight loss can affect people of any age but the likelihood increases as you get older: One in five people over 70 are living with sight loss.

Sight is the sense people fear losing the most. Some people will lose their sight slowly while for others it can be sudden. Whatever the situation, help, support and advice are at hand.

This video is the second part of a three part training package investigating the issues surrounding sight loss and vision impairment. In this second production the following issues are investigated;

Using the sight guide technique including; approaching and introducing yourself to a visually impaired person, allowing the visually impaired person to establish and use the correct physical hold, leading a visually impaired person, negotiating doorways, narrow spaces and stairs, communicating correctly, sitting down and leaving an unaccompanied visually impaired person.
