The final running day for 2999 "Lady of Legend" during its holiday to the Severn Valley Railway.
Having featured as the star guest at the Severn Valley Railway's 'Spring Steam Up' event, 2999 "Lady of Legend" continued to see service over SVR metals on selected dates afterward. 2999's holiday to the SVR marked the locomotives first trip away from its home at the Didcot Railway Centre, since its completion in 2019. The visit to the SVR also allowed the 'Saint' Class its first chance to stretch its legs, with a suitable load.
The 'Saint' is due to return to Didcot imminently. As such, the 7th of May was the last scheduled running day for 2999, before heading home. On the day, 2999 took charge of the self-titled "Lady of Legend" service, rubbing shoulders with "The Pioneer" diesel service in the hand of Class 42 'Warship' - D821. Both services started out of Kidderminster, working the full line length to Bridgnorth; "The Pioneer" making three return trips, while the "Lady of Legend" service made two return trips. At the end of the day, the 'Saint' worked an ECS movement to Bridgnorth, tackling the 16 mile journey in a very spirited fashion.
