SmartLam North America first established its headquarters in Columbia Falls, Montana, and subsequently acquired the state-of-the-art, former IB XLam facility in Dothan, Alabama. With the two operational production facilities in Montana and Alabama, SmartLam North America leads the industry in production capacity of Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT).
Alabama is famous for their supply of the beautiful timber from Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) trees. We can produce Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels out of Southern Yellow Pine (SYP), as well as Glulam Beams.
Why is SYP so special? It is readily available, dense and strong. It is considered one of the hardest soft woods currently available. The south is very proud of their forests and the economies surrounding those forests.
Follow along as we share some history of Dothan, SYP and some of the best projects built with our SYP Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glulam.
