We chose Palm Cove instead of Port Stephens as our base to explore the tropical north and we were really happy with our decision. We were able to do scenic flights of the GBR from Cairns and visit places like Fitzroy Island - only about a 20 minute drive to some of these main attractions.
We visited in June 2022.
Palm Cove had a wonderful vibe, people getting up early to exercise and also plenty of restaurants right on your doorstep -we did find the restaurants to be a bit more on the pricier end than the bigger cities and the quality not always there but we were really impressed with Nu Nu.
