My work as an English teacher goes far beyond just explaining grammar rules and offering vocabulary expanding strategies. When learning a foreign language we face much bigger challenges than memorising a table of irregular verbs and understanding what Present Perfect tense actually is.
We feel anxious at the mere thought of getting out of the comfort zone of our native language. We are constantly afraid. Of everything - to miss something important when others speak, to be misunderstood because we also have something important to say, to make a mistake. Tell me in the comments if you have ever decided to keep quiet in a conversation because what you wanted to say was pretty complicated and you were just worried about saying it wrong. And of course we want to know the secret of learning fast and easily, and effectively… and fast)
So, in the beginning of June I had an excellent chance to attend an International Language Coaching Conference where I met incredible people: teachers, coaches and language enthusiasts. I couldn’t let them just slip past without answering the questions we all ask when learning a foreign language.
