In 1995 the Emirates Centre for Wildlife Propagation (ECWP) opened in Morocco to breed Houbara for release in North Africa. The Centre runs a special programme of North African Houbara breeding for release in range areas in the Kingdom of Morocco and other North African countries. A second breeding centre was opened in the Enjil area near Missour in 2006.
In addition to its activities in breeding, resettling, and protecting the Houbara’s natural habitat, EWCP carries out various public awareness activities related to the Houbara through a series of field visits.
