Komodo Island Vlog - meet one of the world's most dangerous animals!! 😱🐊

WELCOME TO OUR CHANNEL!

In this week's video, we're bringing you along with us as we visit the Komodo National Park in Flores, Indonesia. This was one of the most amazing places we have ever visited so we want to share this journey with you and show you some of the amazing scenery!

We took this trip with a group of friends including @couplesquest_ (find them also on Instagram) and booked it through 'Le Pirate'. As we were a group of 8 we booked a private boat; however, you can join as a couple or a smaller group and combine with other passengers if you don't have enough people for a private trip. Equally, you could take the trip as a couple on a private boat, budget permitting.

This was a 3-night, 4-day trip that departed from Labuan Bajo at around 09:00am and returned to the port at approximately 13:00 on the 4th day. During the trip, we visited Padar Island, Pink Beach at Padar, Pink Beach on Komodo Island, Komodo Island, Takka Makassar Sandbank, Kalong Island, Kelor Island and the general scenery around Komodo National Park.

Costs for the trip are broken down below but may differ as we took this trip in April 2022 before Indonesia opened up fully for tourism again:

Flights from Bali - Denpasar to Labuan Bajo:
£63 return per person

Hostel in Labuan Bajo:
2 nights (1 the night before and 1 the night after)
£12 per night per person

Boat trip including 3 meals a day:
£225 per person

Park fees for Komodo National Park:
£8.50 per person
*please note that the Indonesian government announced changes in June 2022 to the National Park fees, which are now reported to be 3.75 million IDR as opposed to 150,000 IDR we paid in April 2022.

Drone fees*:
£50 (1 million IDR)
*NB if you wish to fly a drone within the national park, you must obtain a licence which can be purchased from the boat crew once you depart and costs approx. 1m IDR.

You can walk from the town of Labuan Bajo to the port, which only takes 10-20 minutes depending on the location of your hotel. There are plenty of decent accommodation options within the town. We chose to stay at La Boheme, which has a great communal space where you can meet other travellers. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the location is really close to the port.
