This is the impromptu tale of my first 1000 km Audax event, organised by Andy Berne of Tyneside Vagabonds. Impromptu because I'd had no intention to video it, having made the decision to leave my GoPro camera at home. Unfortunately however, I couldn't resist the temptation to hit the 'record' button on my phone and once I'd started, I couldn't stop. From the footage recorded I think I've managed to assemble a fairly honest and informative account of a well-attended, multi-day cycling event, through Southern Scotland and Northern England. As cliched as it sounds, and even though I'm in my sixties, this first year of long/ultra-distance cycling has been revelatory, proving that life is itself, a journey. One I'm enjoying very much.
