The Grand Mahakala Puja is a powerful Tantric ritual of invocation. It is performed to invoke the blessings and protection of the great Mahakala, a deity who is said to be the Supreme Protector and Destroyer of obstacles.

In this ritual, the practitioner first offers their obeisance to the deity and then invokes the deity’s power through the chanting of mantras, offering of flowers and incense, and the burning of ritual substances. The ritual culminates with the offering of a special offering known as a “Torma”, which is a special cake made of flour, butter, ghee, and various other ingredients. The offering is then placed on the altar and is said to be consumed by Mahakala as a sign of his acceptance of the offering.

The ritual is believed to bring the practitioner closer to enlightenment, as it is believed that the protection and blessings of Mahakala will help to remove obstacles and bring peace, harmony, and prosperity to their lives.
