Old Lady Kate Reacts 12: TOOL - Schism

EXPLICIT CONTENT: Sometimes there are swears; both from us and the bands.

We're back in the Tool shed!! We have another track from the album that brought me into the fold as a Tool fan, Schism from Lateralus. If you're here to watch a reaction to Schism, I probably don't need to tell you anything about the track or the album at all, but if the algorithm dropped you off here from wherever else and you barely know who Tool is, get ready for something great.

In either case, I hope you enjoy the silliness before, during, and after the music. We had a ton of fun making it and I know I had fun as always in the editing process.

This is the twelfth episode in the every-so-often series where I introduce my wife to music she's never listened to but I've loved for years. By any metric she isn't actually old, but we affectionately refer to the character that emerges upon being surprised by something as "Old Lady Kate." Given the fact that the series will probably surprise her once or twice in that way, we figured we'd just name the whole thing that.

BE ADVISED: This show is just for fun, this is no be-all-end-all music criticism of these songs. We revel in first impressions, the starker and wilder the better. Enjoy! (cuz I know we do!)

In terms of audio, it's immediately pretty obvious that we don't have a genuine setup for videos, but my new plan is to figure out the microphones that Kate got me for my birthday over summer break (because the first plan of figuring them out over winter break totally failed). We'll be working on how exactly to use those mics over the GIVEPAUSE pause and hopefully we'll be using them then!
