Hi-Lo - Jaecoo J6 EV vs Suzuki Jimny 5-door

Jaecoo, the lifestyle branch of Chinese car firm Chery, teased us with an all-electric SUV last year at the Festival of Motoring. With its boxy proportions and unashamed inspiration drawn from the Defender and Jimny, it got tongues wagging.

Correlations were immediately drawn between the popular Suzuki 4x4 and the newcomer, with many imagining what it would be like to roll around in a full-electric version of the Jimny. Ahead of its local launch, which is expected in the second quarter of this year, we got our hands on one to see what it's about.

It only made sense to pit it against the first parallel that most consumers will draw, the Suzuki Jimny in 5-door guise. In a head-to-head comparison, how does the new Jaecoo J6 fare, especially seeing as we expect it to be roughly twice the price of the Suzuki? On the opposite ends of the spectrum, analogue and digital, which one offers the best bang for your buck?
