Calling All Stations - Extra: UPDATE - Perth's New Airport Link Takes Shape 2

In this 'Update' on the progress of the Airport Line the video begins on board a Bayswater bound service shortly after leaving Meltham, A brief look around Bayswater Station before boarding a service to Ashfield. Alighting at Ashfield another quick look around and then board the next Bayswater bound service. In this way the video shows the Airport Line emerging between the Midland Line and eventually merging Down Line with Down, and Up Line with Up, and 4 becomes 2. The tracks come tantalizingly close to a completed connection but not quite yet, watch out for the next update.

The Airport Link is a service that will start from the High Wycombe Terminus and run via Airport Central, and Redcliffe Stations through Bayswater Junction where it uses the Midland and Fremantle lines to terminate at Claremont Line. High Wycombe, Airport Central, and Redcliffe Station's are under construction and Bayswater Station is undergoing a complete rebuild with four platforms able to accommodate 6 car trains (3 + 3), Midland line, High Wycombe (previously Forrestfield) Airport Line, and the Ellenbrook/ Morley Line.

Bayswater has been a junction station before when in 1897 a spur line to the nearby Ascot Racecourse was built, the line included a level crossing over Guildford Road and a bridge over the Swan River, it closed in 1956 after a fire on the bridge .

When the new High Wycombe/ Airport Line opens for service in 2022, it will have stations at Redcliffe (Previously Belmont), Airport Central, and terminate at High Wycombe (Previously Forrestfield).
