It's September 1799. After reclaiming all of Napoleon’s gains in Italy in 6 months, Suvorov was suddenly ordered to march into Switzerland. Austria withdrew its armies, leaving only Hotze and Korsakov’s small Russian force to face Masséna’s 70,000 French troops. With just 21,000 men, Suvorov began a desperate Alpine advance, storming the St. Gotthard Pass, fighting across the Devil’s Bridge, and forcing his exhausted troops over the deadly Kinzig-Kulm Pass. But as he reached the Muotatal valley, news arrived too late. Masséna had already struck at Zurich.
