PART 2 - • PArt 2 - Guitar noise and hiss interference
If you are like me, and hear too much.. too often ;) then welcome
please have a look/hear, and share your thoughts about this, as i am really curious how others feel about this , that struggled with the same problem.
Problem: When guitar is connected to the Interface like : Scarlett focusrite 2i2 or Axe I/O , i can hear 'hiss/noise when scrolling a website on my computer'
I hear random hiss/noise even if not scrolling the webbrowser.
I have spent weeks, and lots of money while testing different apporaches, with MISO DI, with other Interfaces, guitars etc
Those are my findings:
1) IT DOES MATTER which pickup you are using, if you will be using humbuckers, chances that you will hear this noise are smaller than when using single pickups
2) I have two display monitoros, 27 inch 4k 144hz and 17 inc 2k 144 hz
if you will switch the refresh rate to 60hz, you will instantly hear difference with the humming / noise. The lower the refresh rate the lower the noise it (in my experiments)
3) if you want to lower the noise, move back like 2-3-4 meters from your display monitors, this helps.
4) in my case i will also demonstrate rotating of 30 degree angle on my chair, and you will notice that the noise is gone. So chaning the direction at which the guitar points, can help
5) YES, the MISO DI helps, but...
6) but you dont have to spend your money on the DI that will 'fix this for you', you can...
10) YOU CAN ADJUST THE INPUT GAIN ON YOUR INTERFACE , so that the hiss/noise will be gone, while regulatign your volume knob on your guitar. In my case i have adjusted the input gain on the interface to 12:00 and the guitar is now on 100% volume and there is no interference , no hiss, no noise when i am not playing.
Does the noise gate fix anything in this problem ? no , it fixes nothing. I don't want even getting into this 'solution'.
this is NOT a problem with the current, with the power plug, with power cable, with guitar cable. Yes i have even bought the defender solutions (they do not change anything in this problem). Have a look at the video i will demonstrate the hiss and then i will apply the setting on the input gain knob on my interface so its 'proper' and everything will be gone.
Yes, you have to set it accurately, to your needs. If you are like me and are trying to play on high gain amp, then yes, you need more 'power', but at some point you will introduce this interference, at that stage, go back 1 mm and that's it.
Yes it does matter the volume on your guitar as well, so its important you will set the proper input gain level on the interface with the maximum allowed guitar volume.
Because some people keep asking me while i am practicing###
1. This website for tabs that i am using is called songster
2. The 'plugin' is called Genome
3. Yes, you are very correct my friend, i still don't know how to play. and i hope i am about to find out by practicing regularly.
4. Of course i am thankful for every advice you might want to share with me, i really don't mind tips, criticism etc, if my playing can benefit from it.
