Could the Election Commission be forced to relent on the SIR, that is, the voter list revision issue? On one hand, the Mamata government in Bengal is furious over the SIR, and the Election Commission has finally had to agree to a meeting. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has also shown strictness and issued a notice to the Election Commission. And the bigger issue has emerged from Madhya Pradesh, where individuals appointed as ‘SIR’ collaborators were found to be associated with the BJP and the RSS.
क्या चुनाव आयोग को SIR यानी वोटर लिस्ट रिवीजन मामले पर झुकना पड़ सकता है? एक तरफ़ बंगाल में SIR पर ममता सरकार आगबूबला है और चुनाव आयोग को आख़िर मुलाकात के लिए झुकना पड़ गया है। उधर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भी सख्ती दिखाते हुए चुनाव आयोग को नोटिस जारी कर दिया है। और बड़ा मामला तो मध्य प्रदेश से सामने आ गया है जहाँ ‘SIR’ के लिए नियुक्त सहयोगियों में BJP और RSS से जुड़े लोग मिले है।
