MORE MORE MORE MORE we tend to fall into that slippery slope of "I want, I want, I want, I want". I want this job, this relationship, this car, this house, this friend, this vacation, this this this this AND THAT! OH YEAH THAT TOO! (trust me I am the king of doing this) But we don't always know we are doing that. As Paul Tripp says, we are our own inner lawyer. We justify things we want in a variety of ways. We get so caught up in living JUST for ourselves (because don't get me wrong, taking care of your mental health and life needs are important) that we get sucked into the cyclone that is "this life is about me and my own pleasure." then everything we do, who we date, what job we pursue, what we wear is all about feeling a certain way about ourselves and to others and we forget to love and serve others. When is the last time we went out of our way for someone else. When is the last time we loved that person who we secretly talk about of think negatively about. When is the last time we welcomes being inconvenienced to support someone. We have to be careful to not get caught in the rat race that society can perpetuate so much so that we forget to live beyond our immediate desires. Scripture says, "and they will know you are my disciples by your LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER". It doesn't say "..BY YOUR LOVE FOR YOURSELF". If we want to reflect the Love of Christ we have to reflect loving others and not just ourselves.
