When you leave Strasbourg the, just before lock 51, the first of many, you pass the European Parliament building. The thumbnail photo is taken in Saverne, the elevator is the St Louis boat lift, which is followed by two significant tunnels. After this you are in a long, 30+km stretch with no impediments. The town of Lagarde, where this video ends used to be the border between Germany and France when Alsace was occupied by Germany after the Franco-Prussian war.
