Our journey begins at the magnificent Narva Triumphal Arch (Нарвские триумфальные ворота), a stunning monument commemorating Russia's victory over Napoleon. From there, we walk down the grand Stachek Avenue (Проспект Стачек), a living museum of Soviet architecture. You'll see incredible examples of Stalinist Empire style and Constructivism, a stark contrast to the baroque palaces of the city center. This historic district, known as the "Narvskaya Zastava," was the industrial heart of St. Petersburg.
Our walk concludes at the iconic Kirov Plant (Кировский завод) metro station, itself a masterpiece of early Soviet design and a gateway to one of Russia's most famous industrial sites. Join me to discover a different, powerful side of St. Petersburg's history and daily life.
